I'm sure there was some conversation in the 1940s about the possible human consequences of nuclear
testing in the Nevada desert. The response from the military to the politicians was most likely something
about the potential human victims downwind being "just Mormons."
After more than 60 years of the consequences of the nuclear tests I'm curious why every native
Washington County resident is not at the doorstep of their political representative protesting the
placement location of the new coal-fired power plant in Mesquite.
If you think the pollution won't affect us here, just drive past Nephi on a calm day and see what the air
quality around the power plant southwest of its community looks and smells like.
The power plant can be placed further south - away from Washington County. Let all of us, Gentile and
Mormon, insist that Nevada build a power plant upwind of their own population.
