The connectivity of the Toquop Energy Plant and the Parade of Homes headlines is evident if you are able to
connect the dots. The news articles play up the Parade homes with 20 flat screen TVs, 14 fireplaces, multi jacuzzis
and private screening rooms as if these are things we should drool over and aspire to. Instead, in this era of
dwindling natural resources it would be more appropriate to run screaming in the other direction.
Our clean air and water supply is a big issue today because of past poor choices that reflect a flawed value system.
The Gulf and Iraq wars have been fought to protect our energy supply in the Middle East. We are asked to sacrifice
our young men, lives and infrastructure in these countries and our good standing in the world but not asked or
required to sacrifice our energy.
Many people in the world walk miles for a small chunk of fuel for their cooking fires. It is truly amazing what our
expectations are. Perhaps a surcharge on excessive energy use that goes towards alternative energy research and
application would be appropriate.
We don't want Salt Lake City toxic quality air in beautiful Southern Utah. Say "no" to Toquop. Try policies that
encourage conservation and appropriate lifestyle choices.
